Looking back: ESPN’s ‘experts’ pre-season picks of NHL division winners, playoffs, Cup

I love, this time of year, to look back at the ESPN “experts” picks for division winners and all the way through the Cup Finals matchups and winners.

Of the 12 experts, half correctly picked the Kings to win the Cup, though not one properly picked them to win it against New York.

My personal favourite pick is Barry Melrose’s Kings over the Capitals (who didn’t make the playoffs) in the Stanley Cup Finals.

For the most part, only a handful of experts picked teams that didn’t make the playoffs for anything. The one team that threw a lot off was the Ottawa Senators.

Here is a look at how the ESPN “experts” thought things would go. The only disappointment here? Linda Cohn’s annual choice of the Rangers as champions didn’t make the list this year. No idea why! Daggonit! Click on the image to make it larger.
