When tickets to a sold-out game are being sold still, the game is clearly not sold out

Clever use of words by the Devils. If you're offering a raffle for a chance to BUY tickets for a sold-out game, the game really isn't sold out. Nice try, though.

Devils’ outdoor game jersey is traditional classic red and green; no changes made to it, unlike other teams playing in Stadium Series

While all other teams have made changes to their jerseys for the Outdoor Series games — some rather significant, in fact — it appears the Devils won’t be doing the same and will, instead, simply wear their old-school red-and-green jersey for the game. The NHL sent out an e-mail last night to encourage fans to buy the jerseys, and in this graphic, you’ll see six jerseys that are not traditional — and the jersey the Devils wore from 1982-1992. (Hope the new owners like these retros and allow them to be worn more than just once a year moving forward).

Here's the Islanders’ outdoor jersey, in case you were wondering

As only NY-area team not to release Outdoor jersey, Devils marketing continues to suck despite new owners’ pledge

The Rangers released their outdoor game jersey this week, leaving the Devils as the only team to not do so. This reminds me why, despite new ownership, this team’s marketing department is still the worst in all of hockey. We are just a few days away from Christmas, and the outdoor jerseys would have made great Christmas presents. I would have gotten one, likely. But as usual, from the Devils, nothing. Nada. Purely disgraceful.

Will Yankee Stadium game sell out?

Yankee Stadium will be home
to 2 NHL games in January. We
wonder if either will be a
sellout crowd.
I cannot help but wonder -- will the outdoor game between the Devils and Rangers at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx sell out?

There are still plenty of tickets available, and all I know is when it was at Citizens Bank Park a few years ago for Flyers/Rangers, it was one of the hottest tickets in Philly sports history.

Now, the NHL is peddling tickets on its website for the game -- and the game at Dodger Stadium, too.

Perhaps the league over-estimated the demand for outdoor hockey and/or as usual, outpriced the fans who'd really like to go to such a game? Your thoughts?

My guess at what the Devils outdoor game jerseys will look like

You'll forgive me -- I don't have a steady hand for Photoshop. But this is what I envision the Devils outdoor game jersey will look like. This jersey is actually available with black instead of green, so I just replaced the black with green. But because it has off-white -- and most of the outdoor games go to off-white -- I think I could at least be close here. Please note, however: This is totally unofficial, and I have no knowledge of what the actual jersey is to look like. Your thoughts? Comment here or on Facebook/Twitter.

Lou via Gulitti: Devils will wear red and green at Yankee Stadium

Tom Gulitti, of the Bergen Record, says Lou Lamoriello told him the Devils will wear red and green when they play at Yankee Stadium in January, much like the sweaters worn on throwback night a few years back.

My only question, then, is why is the NHL planning a major unveiling of the jerseys if the Devils will wear ones we've already seen? I still suspect there will be something different about the red and green jerseys that we haven't even seen on them. Maybe the players' numbers on the shoulder area or something quirky like that.

The Devils in red and green from throwback night a few seasons ago.
I'd been hoping -- and I've had several discussions about this with my pal Tim on Twitter -- they'd wear white, red and green. But I'll settle for the red and green, for sure.

Your thoughts? Does the NHL need to include special jerseys for the outdoor games? Is it about nostalgia or is it more about the money-making opportunities? Comment here or on Twitter and Facebook.

Official fan packages for all NHL signature events will be available from Global Event Forum, the Official NHL Events™ Fan Package Partner. For more information please visit www.nhl.com/fanpackages

Tickets to the two games at Yankee Stadium will go on sale on both Ticketmaster sites at 10 a.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 21.

Part of the previously-announced 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™, a group of games planned for outdoor locations this season, the Kings and Ducks will face off at iconic Dodger Stadium at 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Two games will be played at Yankee Stadium when the New York Rangers face off against the New Jersey Devils on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 12:30 p.m. ET and the New York Islanders on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The NHL also unveiled today the NHL Chrome Collection™, chrome-treated team logos specifically designed for use in connection with the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™. The Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, Kings, Devils, Islanders, Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins will each utilize primary marks that showcase the special creative treatment. The Chrome logo designs are unique to the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™ and inspired from the chrome details on the NHL shield, bringing a dynamic and modern perspective to conventional team identities.

The NHL will unveil team jerseys for all four outdoor games of the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™ in the coming weeks.

The Los Angeles event will mark a series of firsts for the National Hockey League and its fans as the Jan. 25 game will be the first outdoor regular season NHL® game played in California.

In its 51 year history, the venerable Dodger Stadium has hosted eight World Series and close to 4,000 regular-season games, but never a hockey game.

In its five year history, the new Yankee Stadium, which opened in 2009 and is already one of the most celebrated venues in all of sports, has played host to college football bowl games, concerts by Grammy-Award winning acts, soccer and boxing matches -- but never a hockey game, making the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™ another true milestone for the Stadium, the NHL® and its fans.

The game between the Kings and Ducks will be telecast nationally in the U.S. on NBC Sports Network and throughout Canada on CBC and RDS2. For the Rangers vs. Devils game on Sunday, Jan. 26, NBC will broadcast the game live nationally in the U.S., while CBC provides live coverage throughout Canada.

For the Rangers vs. Islanders game Jan. 29, national coverage in the U.S. switches to NBC Sports Network, with TSN and RDS2 providing live telecasts across Canada. Sirius XM Satellite Radio will provide radio coverage of all three games.

NHL unveils Devils’ Stadium Series logo

Love it. The green is back — and should probably be part of their uniform that day. Your thoughts?

Lastly, here are the logos for the teams playing in the meaningless outdoor games that are not the Winter Classic

Oh, and here are the other 2 teams’ logos from the area

Rangers’ logo is nice, but the Islanders’ one is rather plain -- hardly enough colour.
