Results of our Off-Season Poll

We closed our Off-Season Poll today, and the results are pretty obvious. We asked what you thought had to be done to make the 2014-15 Devils better -- and you resoundingly (and perhaps obviously) said you want a top-notch goal-scoring forward.

Of those who responded, 64.25% said the Devils need at least one -- or more -- new, proven goal scorers.

The shootout was also of concern to our readers. 12.9% said a top priority was to get someone who could score in the time after overtime.

Rounding out the top 3 choices in a tie were bringing in a top-2 defenseman and bringing back Adam Oates as a coach -- both at 6.45% of the votes.

This poll is in no way scientific -- but didn’t allow for multiple votes based on IP addresses.

Remarkably, 3.23% of those who took the poll said they want to see Lou Lamoriello gone.

We have a new poll up now about Pat Burns. Be sure to vote in it if time allows you to do so. Have a poll question? Leave it in the comments section, on Google+ or on our Facebook Group -- or send an e-mail to kevincanessa@gmail.com.

Realignment poll results: Bring Detroit, Chicago to the East

Here are the results of our realignment poll. Looks like most would be happy if the Red Wings and Blackhawks moved to the Eastern Conference — though I'm not so sure I'd want Chicago in the East right about now. Be sure to vote in our next poll at the top-left corner of the website.

Poll results: Week 1 —— Should Matteau be here?

Thanks to all who voted in the first poll of the season — we'll have a new one each week (in fact, the new one's already up at the top-left corner of the site ... so be sure to vote — it's free and anonymous).

Last week, we asked whether Stefan Matteau should be on the roster.

Of the voters, 47.06 percent said no, he's not ready; 23.53 percent said they weren't sure yet; 17.65 percent said they couldn't believe a Matteau is on the Devils; and 11.76 percent said yeah, he's ready.

We'll find out for sure in a few days as the team's next game in Boston is final game Matteau can play in without having to stay the entire year. Most reports indicate he'll be heading back to his junior team for the rest of the season.
