If Ottawa gets a point — the Islanders play Pittsburgh in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the eighth seed. If Boston wins in regulation, the Islanders head to Boston for a first-round matchup with the Bruins as the seventh seed. If the Bruins win in overtime or shootout, it’s Pittsburgh for the Islanders.
Only one thing is certain: The Islanders won’t play Montréal, the one matchup I thought favored them the most.
Regardless of who they play, I’ll be pulling for the Islanders. Yup, I said it. I will.
