Not hockey but sports: Red Sox sellout streak ends at 820
It's not Devils (or hockey), but as you know, we're all about attendance here. So I had to share this (albeit a few days late).
The Boston Red Sox’s sellout streak of 820 games came to a halt after the team failed to sell out Game no. 2 at Fenway Wednesday night.
The crowd: 30,862 — nearly 7,000 short of a sellout. The next day, the crowd was even smaller — 27,704.
The streak has been the subject of numerous jokes over the last few years — especially last year — when it was obvious games weren't sold out, but the team was getting around loopholes by saying they were.
Still, the streak lasted from 2003 to 2013 — good for (officially) the longest such streak in sports.
