Official Devils press release on Cammalleri signing

Cammalleri
The New Jersey Devils today signed free agent forward Mike Cammalleri to a multi-year contract. The announcement was made by Devils’ President/General Manager Lou Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.

Cammalleri joins New Jersey after spending the past two-plus seasons with Calgary. In 2013-14, he had 26 goals and 19 assists for 45 points and 26 penalty minutes in 63 appearances and served as an alternate captain. The 5-9, 190-lb. forward has career totals of 236 goals and 266 assists for 502 points and 340 penalty minutes in 669 games over 11 seasons with Los Angeles, Calgary, and Montreal. He also had 17 goals and 15 assists for 32 points and eight penalty minutes in 32 career post-season contests, including a league-leading 13 goals in 2010.

Born in Richmond Hill, Ont., Cammalleri had a career-high 39 goals and 43 assists for 82 points during his first stint with Calgary. He spent his first five NHL seasons with Los Angeles until a June 20, 2008 trade to the Flames.

Cammalleri was the Kings’ third choice, and 49th overall selection in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He also spent three seasons, 2002-03 through 2004-05, with Manchester (AHL) and led the league with 46 goals in 2004-05.

Cammalleri represented Team Canada at the 2006/2007 World Championships, winning a Gold Medal in 2007. He also represented his home country at the 2001/2002 World Junior Championships, leading the tournament with seven goals (tie)/11 points in 2002.

Cammalleri spent three seasons, 1999-00 through 2001-02, at Michigan, compiling 65 goals and 66 assists for 131 points in 100 games, and led the CCHA with 29 goals in 2000-01. He was named to the 2001 CCHA First All-Star Team, 2001 NCAA West Second All-American Team, 2002 CCHA Second All-Star Team and 2002 NCAA West First All-American Team. Cammalleri was also named to the 2005 AHL Second All-Star Team, and played in the AHL All-Star Game.
