11-year-old girl killed by stray bullet at sleepover party

CHICAGO —

I know I’ve been posting a lot of non-hockey related items of late, but I can’t help it. It is the nature of our world today.

This is just too much to stomach.

An 11-year-old girl in Chicago is attending a slumber party with some of her friends. They’re all gathered around a faux camp fire, eating smores. And while this is happening, a stray bullet comes flying in the window, striking the girl in the head, killing her.

This is the world we live in.

An 11-year-old girl at a sleepover party shot and killed.

Please pay particular attention to the words of the two other girls interviewed in this piece. They were both there. They both witnessed their friend get shot and killed right before their very eyes.

Tell me how either of these two other 11-year-olds are supposed to live any semblance of a normal life after this?
